Brookhaven Rezoning – Oak Forest Hills

Rockhaven is continuing the efforts to have the property at Ashford Dunwoody and Oak Forest Drive rezoned.  Originally Rockhaven proposed townhomes, that request was met with strong opposition from the surrounding neighborhoods and was eventually denied by the City of Brookhaven.  Rockhaven came back with a plan for 32 single family homes that they eventually reduced to 29.   This plan was made available just before the Christmas holidays.  Clay Robertson and Alan Cole (representatives for Oak Forest Subdivision) met with Brad Hughes from Rockhaven Homes and his counsel, Doug Dillard, on December 22, 2014 requesting a further reduction of the number of houses to between 10 – 14.  At that meeting Rockhaven stated that they would respond to the Oak Forest neighborhood quickly. No response was ever received.  Their revised plan in December reduced the setback along Oak Forest Drive from 35 feet to 5 feet. Little had changed from Rockhaven’s original application that was submitted to the City.  The Mayor and City Council are scheduled to hear Rockhaven’s rezoning application this Tuesday, January 13, 2015, 7:00PM, at the Brookhaven City Hall.

Click below on the Oak Forest link to see Rockhaven’s proposal for the new development.  After selling real estate for over 25 years in Atlanta, I can honestly say I’ve never seen a single family development laid out like this.   Is this just a glorified townhome plan without common walls?  It’s concerning to me that the homes facing Oak Forest Drive only have a five foot setback and that the only ingress/egress for the development will only be from Oak Forest Drive.  I would welcome your support of our neighborhood at the meeting tomorrow evening.
